Basketball Recap: Newman Grove/St. Edward Takes a Loss

Newman Grove/St. Edward lost against Central Valley back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers were outmatched by the Central Valley Cougars and fell 61-29. The Panthers were down 43-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Newman Grove/St. Edward lost, don't look at Anthony Reader. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Marcos Paez, who earned six points and five boards.

Central Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zaden Wolf led the charge by going 6-for-12 en route to 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Grant Dusatko was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Newman Grove/St. Edward has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Central Valley, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6.
