Softball Recap: Northwestern Tigers vs. Cumberland Beavers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwestern). Everything went their way against the Cumberland Beavers on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-4 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Ellie Peterson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Ashlyn Sutherland was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emma Wennersten, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
