Softball Recap: Doral Academy's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Doral Academy had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They didn't even let the Miami Beach Hi-Tides on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Firebirds as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Meagan Villazon made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Sarah Breaux was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Anabela Abdullah was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Doral Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Doral Academy's record is now 26-1. As for Miami Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

As of now, neither Doral Academy nor the Hi-Tides have any future games scheduled.
