After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wayzata, Moorhead was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the St. Michael-Albertville Knights 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spuds have posted since April 26, 2024.

Kenadi Kays spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Kressin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Madden Bogenreif, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Moorhead's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for St. Michael-Albertville, they moved to 9-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Moorhead will be playing in front of their home fans against Bemidji at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lumberjacks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something the Spuds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Michael-Albertville, they will face off against Wayzata at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
