Basketball Recap: Judah Gilbert's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stanhope Elmore over Calhoun

Stanhope Elmore was the 75-70 winner over Calhoun when they last played one another on January 7th, but their luck changed this time around. The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs fell 72-65 to the Calhoun Tigers on Friday.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Judah Gilbert, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points along with six assists and five boards. Gilbert is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Kaleb Sanders was another key player, going 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points.

Stanhope Elmore dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Calhoun, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Stanhope Elmore will face off against Elmore County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calhoun has already played their next matchup (against Greenville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
