Softball Recap: Pike County Comes Up Short

Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eufaula Tigers. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hailey Griffin was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Morgan Gardner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Pike County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Eufaula, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

Coming up, Pike County will challenge Opp at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Opp's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Pike County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Eufaula has already played their next contest (against Russell County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
