Softball Preview: Mid-Buchanan Dragons vs. DeKalb Tigers

Mid-Buchanan has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the DeKalb Tigers at 8:30 a.m. Mid-Buchanan's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so DeKalb's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Mid-Buchanan got the win against Penney by a conclusive 17-1. Considering the Dragons have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Dru Pearson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Pearson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Sophia Smith and Kaleigh Strong did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Strong went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Smith is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lindy Eaton, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mid-Buchanan didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penney only tossed three.

Meanwhile, DeKalb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Northeast Nodaway by a score of 4-3.
