Basketball Recap: Dora Beats Curry for Their Seventh Straight Win

Dora had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They strolled past the Curry Yellowjackets with points to spare, taking the game 44-29. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dora's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Reese led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Reese has scored at least a third of Dora's points. Another player making a difference was Millicent Wilson, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Dora smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Dora has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Curry, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dora will head out to square off against Carbon Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Dora is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Curry, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Curry Yellowjackets challenge the Corner Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
