Volleyball Game Preview: Upper Lake Cougars vs. St. Helena Saints

The Upper Lake Cougars will square off against the St. Helena Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Upper Lake came up short against Middletown and fell 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Upper Lake actually scored more points across those four sets (90-87), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

Meanwhile, St. Helena hadn't done well against Fort Bragg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Timberwolves 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since September 6th.

St. Helena was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-12, 22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 17-15.

Upper Lake's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for St. Helena, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.

Upper Lake beat St. Helena 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
