Softball Recap: Knox Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Knox rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jimtown Jimmies, sneaking past 4-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 6-3 victory on May 14th.

Bethany Barnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Jensen was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Cheryl Barnes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Knox lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 4-1 when they post two or more home runs.

The win made it two in a row for Knox and bumps their season record up to 14-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Jimtown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.

Knox will square off against Andrean at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jimtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
