Baseball Game Preview: Meadowdale Lions vs. Belmont Bison

The Meadowdale Lions will take on the Belmont Bison at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Meadowdale faced off against Stivers School for the Arts on Monday. The Lions were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Tigers.

Meanwhile, Belmont made easy work of Ponitz Career Tech on Monday and carried off a 17-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bison.

Gavin Bradley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bradley was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Belmont got a massive performance out of Carter Blankenship, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bryce Smith was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Meadowdale's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Belmont, their record is now 2-0.

Meadowdale beat Belmont 12-9 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
