Basketball Recap: Southland Comes Up Short

Southland's game on Friday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 53-43 to the Petersburg Buffaloes. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 66-41 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Petersburg can attribute much of their success to Saul Ruiz, who posted 23 points. Those 23 points gave Ruiz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Mulkey, who had ten points.

Southland has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Petersburg, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12.

Southland has already played their next game, a 38-34 win against Wilson on the 28th. As for Petersburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 88-37 defeat against Lorenzo on the 28th.
