Basketball Recap: Sabino Sabercats vs. Safford Bulldogs
Even though the Safford Bulldogs scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the Sabino Sabercats still came out on top. Sabino walked away with a 70-61 victory over the Bulldogs. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sabino.
Sabino got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Watkins out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Watkins hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Cameron Hackworth was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Sabino has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. As for Safford, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
Sabino will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Tanque Verde's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games. As for Safford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
