Recap: Winooski Spartans vs. Williamstown Blue Devils
After a string of three wins, the Winooski Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Williamstown by a score of 35-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Winooski in their matchups with Williamstown: they've now lost eight in a row.
Williamstown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Bailey, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Bailey is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Colby Laggner, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Winooski's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Williamstown, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Winooski will take on Richford at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Vermont (Richford is ranked 26th, while Winooski is ranked 23rd). As for Williamstown, they will head out on the road to face off against Bellows Free Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
