Volleyball Recap: Montpelier Takes a Loss

Montpelier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Holgate Tigers. If the Locomotives were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 17-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Zoe Uribes paced Montpelier's offense, picking up 13 kills. Uribes got some help from Bella Ramos and her 30 assists. Ramos was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Montpelier's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Holgate, they moved to 7-15 with that victory, which also ended their five-match losing streak.

Montpelier and Holgate could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Locomotives will square off against Tinora at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (667 vs. 38). Meanwhile, Holgate (ranked 538th) will meet Miller City (ranked 169th) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
