Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Wakefield's 15th in Last 17 Outings

Wakefield barely beat Rolesville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Rams on Tuesday. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ben Dudash was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since April 4th.

In other pitching news, Wakefield got a great performance from Tyler Rotellini as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Rotellini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunter Lentz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Eli Gross was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Wakefield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Wakefield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Rolesville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Wakefield will be playing at home against Millbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Rolesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
