Baseball Recap: Cox Mill Comes Up Short

Cox Mill played against Hickory Ridge on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Cox Mill got a good showing from John Ingle, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, Ingle didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Trendyn Motley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Cox Mill's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Tyler McBee also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Cox Mill is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6. As for Hickory Ridge, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Ragin' Bulls beat Cox Mill by a score of 11-1 on Friday.
