Baseball Recap: East Chicago Central Takes a Loss

East Chicago Central couldn't beat Hammond Baptist on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Cardinals fell just short of the Swordsmen by a score of 12-11. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Swordsmen: they've now lost three in a row.

Kamonta Morris was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abran Gomez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

East Chicago Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Hammond Baptist, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Swordsmen beat East Chicago Central by a score of 6-0 later that day.
