Baseball Game Preview: Decatur Eagles vs. Castleberry Lions

Decatur is a perfect 10-0 against Castleberry since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Decatur Eagles will square off against the Castleberry Lions at 6:30 p.m.

Decatur took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Castleberry 12-3. Decatur's victory was all the more impressive since the Lions were averaging only 3.44 runs allowed on the season.

Raymundo Contreras made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Caden Hill looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper House, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Jed Ross was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Castleberry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Decatur, their record now sits at 6-11-1.
