The matchup between Dakota and Anchor Bay on Thursday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Cougars took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tars. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Kiley Phelan was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Annika Sylver, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Dakota's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 15-3. As for Anchor Bay, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Dakota will head out on the road to take on Gaylord at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Anchor Bay, they will take on Utica at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
