Baseball Game Preview: University Lab Cubs vs. Parkview Baptist Eagles

For the second straight game, University Lab will face off against Parkview Baptist. The Cubs will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (University Lab 3.1, Parkview Baptist 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

University Lab is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Parkview Baptist, who was ranked 14th at the time (University Lab was ranked 23rd). The Cubs fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday.

Nicholus Zeringue was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaris Hamilton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Ethan Hopkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The win was the seventh in a row for Parkview Baptist, bringing their record up to 24-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for University Lab, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 21-9.
