Baseball Recap: Mariner Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Charlotte, Mariner was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls by a score of 9-4. For the Tritons, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 win the Cowboys/Cowgirls walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Romero Gist was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Oliveros, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mariner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

Coming up, Mariner is taking a road trip to face off against First Baptist Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Tritons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for LaBelle, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Oasis at 6:30 p.m. The Cowboys/Cowgirls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
