Baseball Game Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks

For the second straight game, Chambers will face off against Mallard Creek. The Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chambers has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with eight straight defeats, while Mallard Creek will come in with three straight wins.

Chambers came up short against Mallard Creek on Wednesday, falling 20-1.

For Mallard Creek's part, Colin McCartney was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McCartney has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, JeHue Alston was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Scott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one double.

Mallard Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .567 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Chambers' loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mallard Creek, their record is now 9-14.
