Football Recap: Brawley Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Brawley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 28-7 to the St. Augustine Saints. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

CJ Retutal threw for 83 yards on six of 14 attempts. Derek Valdez was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards. On the ground, Jonathan Piseno rushed for 39 yards and one score.

St. Augustine's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Paisios Polamalu was his usual excellent self, rushing for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Coming up, Brawley will square off against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Augustine, they will face off against Mater Dei Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.75 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
