Basketball Recap: Ballantyne Ridge Takes a Loss

Ballantyne Ridge played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Palisades Pumas and fell 62-22. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Palisades' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tynilla Simpkins led the charge by going 5 of 8 en route to 10 points along with six steals and five boards. Simpkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Meyah Brown, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Ballantyne Ridge's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Palisades, their record now sits at 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ballantyne Ridge will venture away from home to challenge South Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Mecklenburg will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Ballantyne Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Palisades, they will head out to take on Ardrey Kell at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
