Softball Recap: Elgin Comets vs. Hardin Northern Polar Bears

Elgin blew Hardin Northern out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Hardin Northern got their revenge. The Comets fell just short of the Polar Bears by a score of 11-9. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Polar Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Madison Hill was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Maycee Muselin was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
