Recap: Brookfield Warriors vs. United Golden Eagles
The Brookfield Warriors were the 26-0 winner over the United Golden Eagles when they last played one another back in October of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Brookfield fell 24-14 to United on Friday. Brookfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Brookfield saw an underclassman step up: Rico Smith rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Brookfield's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 Garfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.8% over those games). As for United, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Brookfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. United will be playing in front of their home fans against Cuyahoga Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuyahoga Heights will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
