Recap: Chino Valley Cougars vs. Camp Verde Cowboys
The Chino Valley Cougars lost against the Camp Verde Cowboys back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Chino Valley was beaten by Camp Verde 49-11. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chino Valley in their matchups with Camp Verde: they've now lost seven in a row.
Rachel Roderick was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven steals and five rebounds for Camp Verde. That makes it three consecutive games in which Roderick has scored at least a third of Camp Verde's points. Marisol Salas Zorrilla was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Chino Valley has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Camp Verde, they pushed their record up to 19-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Chino Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Chino Valley is ranked 248th, while Scottsdale Christian Academy is ranked 241st). Camp Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
