Baseball Game Preview: Loris Lions vs. Marlboro County Bulldogs

The Loris Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Marlboro County Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Loris has four straight wins, Marlboro County has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Loris made easy work of Mullins and carried off an 18-3 victory. Considering the Lions have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Loris got a massive performance out of Landon Basily, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave Basily a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Huff, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Loris was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mullins only posted a batting average of .200.

Meanwhile, Marlboro County came up short against Loris on Tuesday and fell 6-1.

Loris pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Marlboro County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Loris beat Marlboro County 6-1 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
