Football Recap: Hokes Bluff Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Hokes Bluff lost against Cherokee County back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles took a 24-10 bruising from the Warriors. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Hokes Bluff still got an impressive performance from Bryce Whitaker, who rushed for 145 yards and one score while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Whitaker is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 135 every time he's taken the field this season.

Keyshawn Woods was his usual excellent self, rushing for 311 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.1 yards per carry for Cherokee County. Those 311 rushing yards gave Woods a new career-high.

Hokes Bluff suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3. As for Cherokee County, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hokes Bluff will face off against Ashville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cherokee County, they will challenge Alexandria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Valley Cubs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
