Baseball Recap: Harrisonburg Blue Streaks vs. Turner Ashby Knights
Harrisonburg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They came up short against the Turner Ashby Knights, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in April.
As for Turner Ashby, their record is now 10-3. Considering they have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Turner Ashby's part, Caden Simmers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Simmers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Knicely, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Spotts, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
