Basketball Recap: Perry County Takes a Loss

Perry County lost a heartbreaker to Hughes when they met back in January of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Perry County Vikings took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hughes Lions. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Perry County lost, don't look at Colton Pevahouse. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jake Mercer, who posted seven points and five assists.

Perry County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-12. As for Hughes, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Perry County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-59 loss against Summertown on the 28th. As for Hughes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-47 defeat against Mt. Pleasant on the 25th.
