Basketball Recap: Widefield Gladiators vs. Canon City Tigers

If the Widefield Gladiators were riding high off their 62-22 takedown of the Sand Creek Scorpions last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Widefield's rough 48-24 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 62 points in the game before, Widefield couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the defeat, Widefield saw an underclassman step up: Isabella Monk almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Monk has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dasia Rojas, who scored six points.

Lorelai Murphy continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Canon City, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murphy has scored all season. Alexi Till was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Widefield's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Canon City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.
