Softball Recap: Lamar Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Whitmire hit Lamar with a six-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Silver Foxes took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines. The Silver Foxes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2019.

Abby McManus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordyn Scarbrough made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Lamar's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10. As for Whitmire, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Lamar nor Whitmire have any future games scheduled.
