Basketball Recap: Upson-Lee Takes a Loss

Upson-Lee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The game between them and the Trinity Christian Lions didn't end well, with the Upson-Lee Knights falling 61-47. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-50 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Bennett, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points. Bennett also put up a block, which washer first of the season. Reese Anderson was another key player, going 6 for 13 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Upson-Lee's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Trinity Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upson-Lee won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Troup County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Troup County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Trinity Christian, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Sandy Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.
