Softball Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Edgewood Cougars

The Springfield Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Edgewood Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Springfield didn't have quite enough to beat Tri-Village and fell 5-4.

Springfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Jones' first of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Edgewood faced off against Franklin on Saturday. The Cougars won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jaycie Broshear spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evelyn Henson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
