Softball Recap: Godwin Extends Road Winning Streak to 15

Godwin faced Glen Allen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Eagles never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Katelyn Hubley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carter Dunham and Adelynn Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Dunham went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Collins went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Collins has posted since back in May of 2024. Avery Fankhauser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Godwin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glen Allen only managed one hit.

Godwin pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Glen Allen, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Looking ahead, Godwin will welcome Deep Run at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 0.7, the Wildcats 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Glen Allen, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hermitage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
