Basketball Recap: Swansboro Skates Past Dixon with Ease

Swansboro won the last time they faced Dixon and things went their way on Friday too. The Swansboro Pirates really took it to the Dixon Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-23 victory. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Swansboro found their leader in sophomore Addison King, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave King a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Jass, who posted eight points and five steals.

Swansboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Dixon's loss came despite strong showings from Alivia Nokes and Bracey Edens. Nokes scored ten points, while Edens had no points and five rebounds. Brianna Weiss also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Swansboro pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.4 points per game. As for Dixon, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-8.

Swansboro has already played their next contest (against West Carteret), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dixon has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Richlands.
