Recap: Eustis Panthers vs. The Villages Charter Buffalo
The Eustis Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of The Villages Charter by a score of 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Eustis has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Eustis still got an impressive performance from Alana Seward, who scored 32 points along with eight steals and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Seward has scored all season. Dakeria Brown was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten assists and eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eustis were working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Villages Charter only racked up 14 assists.
Leading The Villages Charter to victory were Zion Mcrae and Evah Watterson. Mcrae scored 17 points along with eight assists and five steals, while Watterson went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Mcrae hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Ray?niah Gould, who scored seven points.
Eustis dropped their record down to 9-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for The Villages Charter, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Eustis will be playing at home against West Orange at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Orange presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eustis in Florida (West Orange is ranked 93rd, while Eustis is ranked 235th). As for The Villages Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge South Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday.
