Football Recap: Hidalgo Early College Sets Scoring Season-High Against Valley View

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calallen, Hidalgo Early College was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Valley View Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 31-14. The Pirates' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Roberto Gallegos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 101 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 36 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Javier Martinez was another key player, picking up 171 receiving yards.

Hidalgo Early College's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Valley View, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Hidalgo Early College will challenge La Vernia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. Valley View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
