Softball Game Preview: Smackover Buckaroos vs. Fouke Panthers

Smackover is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Fouke is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Buckaroos will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Smackover made easy work of El Dorado and carried off a 14-3 victory.

Emily Camacho made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Camacho was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Camacho is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Taylor Darden was a standout: she scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Ava Walker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Fouke got the win against Spring Hill on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-2. The Panthers have beaten the Bears the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.

Smackover's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Fouke, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-1.

Smackover took their win against Fouke in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Buckaroos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
