Baseball Recap: Dobson Gets the Win

Dobson's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Maryvale Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Brody Dobson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Dobson is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-19 otherwise. Dobson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Kash Rodriguez looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Owen Murray was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Dobson picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-20. As for Maryvale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Dobson will head out to square off against Westwood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Maryvale, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cibola at 3:45 p.m.
