Basketball Recap: Byrd Takes a Loss

After flying high against Evangel Christian Academy last Tuesday, Byrd came back down to earth. The Byrd Yellow Jackets were beaten by the Captain Shreve Gators 60-16 on Friday. The Yellow Jackets haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 3-24. As for Captain Shreve, they pushed their record up to 25-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Byrd and Captain Shreve could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. Byrd will face off against Huntington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 267 places (287 vs. 20). Meanwhile, Captain Shreve (ranked 42nd) will meet Haughton (ranked tenth) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
