Soccer Game Preview: Powhatan vs. Manchester

Powhatan is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will face off against the Manchester Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Powhatan will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Louisa County on Tuesday. Powhatan never let Louisa County get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Powhatan in their matchups with Louisa County: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Manchester ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past L.C. Bird 3-2. Manchester better thank their lucky stars for the performance of James Blalock, as he scored every single goal for his team.

The win got Powhatan back to even at 1-1. Manchester has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Powhatan came up short against Manchester in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Powhatan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
