Preview: California School for the Deaf Eagles vs. Swett Warriors
The California School for the Deaf Eagles have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Swett Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on October 27th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
California School for the Deaf stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Alabama School for the Deaf at home to the tune of 56-12. With California School for the Deaf ahead 30-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
California School for the Deaf can attribute much of their success to Aiden Shupe, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown, and Irving Senegal, who gained 188 total yards and five touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Gough, who gained 23 total yards and two touchdowns.
Swett fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 32-28 W over Anderson Valley on Friday.
California School for the Deaf's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Elsie Allen and 1-5 Harker (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.4% over those games). As for Swett, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for California School for the Deaf against Swett when the teams last played back in September of 2021 as the squad secured a 36-6 win. Will California School for the Deaf repeat their success, or does Swett have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
