Football Game Preview: Salem Sundevils vs. Ocean Lakes Dolphins + How To Watch

The Salem Sundevils will head out on the road to square off against the Ocean Lakes Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salem will be strutting in after a win while Ocean Lakes will be coming in after a defeat.

Salem took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past Kellam with points to spare, taking the game 14-0. Those 14 points were actually the fewest the Sundevils have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, Ocean Lakes ended up a good deal behind Kempsville on Friday and lost 31-12. While losing is never fun, the Dolphins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Chiefs are ranked 88th).

Salem pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.8 points over those games. As for Ocean Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Salem beat Ocean Lakes 40-33 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sundevils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
