Baseball Recap: Black River Pirates vs. Hillsdale Falcons
Black River had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 7-6 to make it four. They came up short against the Hillsdale Falcons, falling 10-1. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 13-9 to the Falcons when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Hillsdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
For Hillsdale's part, Eben Wilson-Mills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Wilson-Mills has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carter Barrett was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Knox Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black River will square off against Firelands at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hillsdale, they will face off against Rittman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
