Preview: Western Boone Stars vs. Faith Christian Eagles

The Western Boone Stars will head out on the road to face off against the Faith Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Western Boone is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

Western Boone's 16-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 69-37 loss at the hands of Tri-West Hendricks. While losing is never fun, Western Boone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Tri-West Hendricks is ranked 126th).

The losing side was boosted by Ki'erra Koch, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists. Ally Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

Even though Faith Christian has not done well against Tri-Central recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Faith Christian came out on top against Tri-Central by a score of 66-54. With that victory, Faith Christian brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.

Maya Layton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 45 points along with 3 steals. The match was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Johanna Haste, who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.

Western Boone has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Faith Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
