Softball Recap: O'gorman Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

O'Gorman barely beat Yankton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights never let the Bucks/Gazelles get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mary Koch was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sonia Deckert, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Ellie Van Wyhe also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

O'Gorman's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5. As for Yankton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

O'Gorman will face off against Brandon Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lynx have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. Yankton has already played their next contest (against Pierre T.F. Riggs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
