Football Recap: Dillon Warner and Brandon Knolmayer Pace Conifer Defense + How To Watch

Conifer fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Eagle Valley on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Devils by a score of 27-24. The Lobos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Although Conifer took the loss, they still got scores from Mason Harrington, Solomon Washer, and Dillon Warner.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Brandon Knolmayer for the heroic effort on defense: he. Conifer's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.3.

Conifer didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Warner and Knolmayer. Knolmayer also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 14. Warner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Leading Eagle Valley to victory were Nathan Leeper and Xander Deherrera. Leeper gained 125 total yards and a touchdown, while Deherrera picked up 56 receiving yards and one score. That's the most receiving yards Deherrera has posted since back in October of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Conifer fell to 3-1. As for Eagle Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Coming up, Conifer will welcome Glenwood Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Demons' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Lobos' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Eagle Valley, they will square off against Steamboat Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Devils will need to watch out since the Sailors have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
